Danny Green - Road Leading Home
Born in Memphis, raised in Forrest City, Arkansas, Memphis has always been home.
Born in Memphis, raised in Forrest City, Arkansas, Memphis has always been home. As a teenager, he walked in American Studios with his guitar and told them he was a songwriter. Words of encouragement were given and he kept pursuing a singer/songwriter career. Spending time gigging in and around the Memphis area as a solo artist, with bands and working in studios to learn the craft of recording. In 1978 his first album was released on ABC Records. This one too was produced by Don Nix. Another album was recorded for then ABC/MCA but never released. Realizing that California was not where he needed to be, Danny moved to the Mississippi Delta and learned the blues by playing with Big Jack Johnson in the early 80’s. Moving back to Memphis he earned a living gigging and writing, singing and producing commercial jingles as well as being a studio background singer and guitarist for other artists. A self produced gospel flavored album called “Commitment” was released in 1991. He has worked in the studio or performed with artists such as Levon Helm, Dr. John, Johnny Rivers, the Saturday Night Live Band from 1979 and most notably Albert King, who he wrote 9 songs for, 3 of which were on Albert’s last studio album Red House. The song “Bluesman” was a tribute to his friend Albert King and was recorded by Albert as well. Learning and honing his studio craft once again he and his old friend Don Nix have created a special album called “Road Leading Home.” A collection of Danny’s and Don’s songs and recorded with old school mastery in Memphis at Ardent Studio and now ready for the world to hear. A mixture of rock, blues, R& B and a little country make this album unique in today’s market. Cut with love “Road Leading Home” is a masterpiece of old school recording and flavor. It could only come from Memphis, TN.
